Enjoyed every minute. Ran with our dog who loved it. Very dog
Tough!
This is a challenging marathon course and not one I would recommend to new runners, unless they really wanted a challenge. The event organisation was fantastic, start/finish line was good so no complaints there. The route is what this event is all about. The scenery up on the South Downs is outstanding. The marathon route is very tough especially in the heat of the day. At first I was a little surprised at how many aid stations there were, however they became absolute life savers! I was carrying over 2ltrs of water on me, and by about mile 19 I was empty, so those aid stations every 3-4 miles really made the difference for me out there. All the staff were brilliant so thank you to all of them for giving up their time. Tough day on the trails for me with a few admin issues (shoes deciding they wanted to eat all the skin on my achilles) so that really slowed me down, but overall great to get some distance into the legs! Thanks for a nice day out.
A friendly that puts a smile on your face despite the hills!
Great run, friendly atmosphere. Free post run refreshments were good. Possibly a more interesting ribbon for the 5 mile medal next time....

Excellent Event
It’s tough but worth it.
A stunning challenge
This event is very well organised with a terrific scenic and challenging route. There are many well stocked aid stations and you feel very looked after. The event village was very good with a selection of cakes, refreshments, a podium for post race pics, showers and or changing facilities within the leisure centre, massages and free photos. Lovely medal too. The 6 hour cut off for trail marathon beginners is quite tight - especially if it’s a warm day. I would absolutely run it again for the above and also as the money made goes to a very good cause
Absolutely love this belter of an event. Proper Old Skool and a Runners Run. Fabulous.
There is nothing I can find fault with for this event. Honestly, put it in your calendar. From the registration, the marshals, the course marking, the glorious views, the camaraderie with other runners....just one of the best.
What a belter!
Great scenery, nice vibe, excellent organisation. Highly recommend.
Brilliant friendly route in beautiful location
Highly recommend and especially with a dog!
Beautiful but brutal
Well done to all involved. Loved the course, fantastic marshalls and aid stations. A few runners who weren't familiar with the route needed a bit of guidance. Maybe a few more direction arrows in the final third, it plays on your mind a bit when your tired if your not 100% sure you are on course.
Top event , marshals , and a town crier!
Great course, refreshments, organisation xx
Glorious scenery and volunteer-run event
Loved the home baked cakes and juice at the end. The volunteers were lovely. Just a couple of places where the signage could be clearer
Lovely well ran event. Plenty of toilets and volunteers to ask questions
Well organised, friendly marshalls, beautiful scenery. A few paths were tough due to being so narrow so you are allowed to the pace of those in front, but that’s to be expected on trails. I’d definitely come again! Thank you. :-)
Possibly my favourite race
Wonderful route, supportive runners & marshals. I took a fall onto my head 13 miles in (completely my own fault) and other runners stopped, checked for signs of concussion and ran with me to the end or checked in afterwards. The lovely first aiders patched me up and sent me, happy and sore, on my way.

Worthwhile event
Carefully organised, welcoming and inclusive.

Outstanding scenery and all run by cheerful volunteers.
I have run this race many times and the sight of the cheerful mayor and the (often funny) welcome over the tannoy always spur me on in the final yards. I enjoyed the new route but it would be nice if the finish was repositioned so that we could see finishers approaching the end from a little further away.
I love that it is not a commercial event but I do miss the T shirt reward. I still wear mine from years ago. Please bring them back.
